Fish and chip shops:
Henley's of Wivenhoe, 9 Vine Parade, Wivenhoe, always appear to be winning some award or another and now open on Ipswich road, Colchester. Very professional setup. It's great to be able to see and choose the fish you want. The portions of chips are massive and at £1.85 a portion a little pricy. A visit on a Friday evening would be a pleasure if they could introduce a little fun and banter behind the counter. 8/10

Mr Chippy, St Botolphs, Colchester. When walking around the Queen st area of Colchester on a Saturday afternoon and walked past a teenager with a paper bag smelling delightfully of vinegar? it's Mr Chippy chips loaded with salt and vinegar, superb. 7/10
Pizza shops:
Pizza Hot 4 You. 22a East Hill, Colchester. 870080. I have tried these guys a couple of times and found nothing special worth reporting! I will visit over the next couple of weeks and report my findings. The web shortcut now longer works! 5/10
Istanbul Delight, 9 st Botolphs St. Great freindly service. They do a house special to die for (Stips of Doner and Kofte kebab on warm pitta bread and covered in specially prepared sauce) or for pizza lovers the "hot n smelly", quick and friendly.www.istanbuldelight.co.uk Tel Colchester 579251 9/10

Oriental House, St Botolph's circus. Superb, quick and very friendly. I would recommend the special set meals as a must. Following our last experience: as a family of four we all ordered our own from the online menu. £42 delivered within the hour, with free bubbly and prawn crackers. Thai1 on East Hill, Colchester. House special King prawn butterfly is amazing as are the stuffed mussels. Fantastic food but a bit pricey! 7/10 Sandwiches:
Once again I am found lacking on the name front, but there is a shop on St Johns Rd near the junction with Parsons Rd, Colchester. they do a mega ham salad or hot beef sandwich. 7/10Kathleeens Kitchen. The bakers opposit Argos in the town centre. Very good and tasty "ready to go" sandwiches, sausage rolls and pies. 4/10
Miscellaneous:
MacDonalds, Colchester High St. Exactly what you would expect! 4/10K F C Colchester. High St. Very, very good value bucket deals and FANTASTIC southern fried chicken. The shop is a little bit scruffy and the staff on "the frontline" are always just too busy! I don't know how they can make a chip taste so undercooked, limp and overcooked all at the same time. 4/10
